CVS and Walgreens are the first two brick-and-mortar chain stores in the country to be named after a sexual dysfunction drug, which has been in the news.
The company, which launched in January, announced its second major promotions.
“We’re very excited to announce that we’re bringing to you the first promotions from our stores,” said CVS spokeswoman Lyndsay Meehan. “We’ve been selling a lot of ED medicines since 1998. We’ve seen some positive new promotions on our website. We’re working hard to keep things going. We’re working with our partners at CVS to ensure that we continue to offer good quality products to our customers. We’re committed to bringing products to people like us.”
The drug, which is sold under the brand name Viagra, is marketed to men under the age of 18 and is also used to treat erectile dysfunction.
“ED treatments are a big part of the overall health and well-being of our customers,” said CVS president and CVS CEO William Nolley.
He said the drug will have its active ingredient, sildenafil citrate, on the label of its expiration date in March. Nolley said the brand’s launch in the U. S. has taken a hit of advertising money.
CVS also said in an e-mailed statement that it plans to keep the promotions in place for as long as possible to maintain its foothold in the U. market. CVS’s promotions include the promotion of an “elevated number of ED treatments” and the promotion of a “new product”.
“We’re pleased that our stores are going to continue to serve the men with ED,” CVS said in the statement.
The store will open at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 25 and sell at $5.99 for a 30-count bottle.
